…and a great artist.” -John Furth in The Thriving Artist Podcast
What’s New This Month at CHF
This month on the podcast, the co-founder of StARTup Art Fair, Ray Beldner, joins us to discuss the fair’s development and why art fairs are relevant for artists at all career stages. An advocate for artist independence, Ray makes a strong case for business education for artists: a true CHF ally!
Working artists pursue multiple avenues for their businesses: fairs, online sales, and galleries—so, what are the considerations of gallery owners? We investigate this in a new Learning Portal piece with Nancy Zastudil, The Gallery Model is Changing: Here’s How Artists Benefit. For artists with gallery representation, or for those seeking it, this is a valuable perspective.

CHF In the News
Elizabeth Hulings and Business Accelerator Fellow Willy Bo Richardson were interviewed on KTRC’s Richard Eeds radio show, discussing the upcoming Art Business Summit and how The Clark Hulings Foundation meets the needs of artists. Willy explains what tools and strategies artists need to make sales, how CHF trains artists, and the “emotional hurdles” he grappled with as he set himself up to reach his current level of success–listen to the show here. New Mexico Magazine also featured Willy’s work and business development through the Accelerator program: “Richardson got help developing a marketable project to pitch to potential partners and investors. In January, he learned that his business proposal had been accepted by Designtex, a New York–based manufacturer with global reach.” You can read the full article here.
