Smack Mellon: ‘Of the People’

Smack Mellon’s Of the People is an of-the-moment dialogue of political opinions relating to the 2016 presidential election. Of the People, curated by Erin Donnelly, asks artists in a variety of media from video and photography to painting and sculpture to take on current notions of democracy in America, which will challenge the viewer and provoke conversation.

Of the People opens at Smack Mellon on June 17th through July 31st.

Of the nearly 20 artists featured, Lauren Frances Adams, CHF 2013 Business Accelerator Grant Winner, created an installation looming over Smack Mellon’s space, made in “the likeness of big money donors…[and] are inspired by the portrait head roundels of historic lawmakers in the US House of Representatives chamber,” according to the event website.
