Soft launch of The Artist Federation, an artist-organized, CHF-sponsored professional–entrepreneurial skills and collaboration network for artists is underway. Provisional chapters are being formed by artists in North Carolina (Crystal Coast chapter), California (San Francisco Bay Area chapter), Colorado (Boulder chapter), Washington and Idaho (Moscow-Pullman chapter and Inland Empire Chapter), and Italy–yes, Italy! (Fada/Milano chapter). We expect more by the end of the year. CHF facilitates national/global coordination between chapters, and the artists are networking with other artists to get their local/regional chapters off the ground. Elizabeth Hulings is the Executive Director of the Clark Hulings Foundation, and a principal of the business-strategy consulting firm Counterpoise, where she has worked with startups, nonprofits large and small, multi-national corporations, and sole proprietors--including artists of all stripes. Before launching Counterpoise in 2001, Elizabeth lived through five Fortune-500 mergers at the predecessors of Citigroup, Cendant, and Verizon Communications. She also honed her skills at several nonprofit organizations including the International Development Exchange, The Management Center/Opportunity Knocks, and Human Rights Watch.
