Building Your Audience

When asked how artists can build a following, P.A. Nisbet, a painter of outdoor landscapes, points to the intrinsic qualities of their artwork, instead of focusing on marketing strategy. Balancing the need to make money against the desire to remain true to the craft, Nisbet encourages artists to steer away from the trendy in favor of authenticity. Speaking your truth will resonate with your audience, he advises.
