A writer and communications expert with three decades of journalism and editorial experience, Sofia Perez has written for just about every type of client and medium, from businesses and nonprofits, to television, fiction, and print and online publications. A principal in the business-strategy consulting firm Counterpoise, she provides a range of editorial services to companies and nonprofits alike, including the Rainforest Alliance, where she used to serve as the director of communications.
Sofia’s career began in broadcast news, at the NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw and the Today show, before she segued into print. Her journalistic writing—which focuses primarily on food, wine, travel, and the environment—has been published by outlets such as The New York Times, Gourmet, and Saveur. She has also written a historical novel, So This Is How it Ends (about the Spanish Civil War), is a judge for the James Beard Foundation Book & Journalism Awards, and serves as the live interpreter for Spanish chef Ferran Adrià during his visits to North America. Sofia holds a B.A. in English literature from Princeton University.
