Dr. Mary McBride, Ph.D., is the leader of the Creative Enterprise Leadership international graduate programs in arts and cultural management and design management at the Pratt Institute’s School of Art in New York City. She is also the executive editor of Catalyst, which explores ways of unlocking the potential of creative and generative strategies to build prosperous, sustainable, and equitable communities.
Mary is also the co-founder of the Strategies for Planned Change consultancy (SPC) and leads SPC International’s strategic leadership coaching and stewardship practice. She is a frequent international speaker and has been a visiting professor in Spain, Turkey, India, Russia, and Japan.
A citizen of the US and Ireland, Mary is a well-known executive coach, and works with major organizations worldwide—including nonprofits, governments, foundations, and corporations—providing her expertise on innovation and leadership issues. Her professional experience includes marketing, strategic planning, design management, operations analysis, and organizational development.
Mary received her business training at NYU’s Graduate School of Business where she served as director of Executive Communications and director of the school’s Management Decision Laboratory. She also earned an MA and Ph.D. from NYU. Her research focuses on leadership development and education, and on developing the personal, organizational, and systemic capacity for creative experimentation, innovation and change.
