Carol studied photography at the Newhouse School at Syracuse University and worked as a photojournalist for publications including The New York Times, The Village Voice, Time, and Newsweek. She is a World Press Winner for a spot news photo series from Haiti, where she photographed extensively over a period of years. She covered events including presidential elections, political unrest, the 1994 US invasion, and human rights delegations, in addition to trips to Guantanamo to document Haitian refugees. Carol’s photographs have appeared in a number of books for children. She currently teaches English to immigrants at the New York Public Library.
